About Me

I am Dr. Tammy Ellis, a native English-speaking SEO copywriter based in Austria.

Originally from Canada, I studied in Vienna, lived in Australia for many years, and now live in the beautiful Austrian Alps in the well-known ski resort of Kaprun.

I help Austrian and German businesses create clear, natural English content for international audiences, with a strong focus on tourism, travel, hospitality, and SEO-friendly website content.

Alongside my copywriting work, my family also operates a holiday apartment management business, giving me hands-on experience in the tourism and hospitality industry.

I also founded the Austria Wanderlust and the Austria Travel Planning community, where I create travel content and help English-speaking visitors discover Austria.

My work combines professional copywriting, proofreading, SEO writing, and digital content experience with a scientific and research background, allowing me to also work confidently with technical and academic subjects.

From Science to Copywriting

Over the years, I realised that the part of my work I enjoyed most was transforming complex ideas into clear, engaging, reader-friendly language.

This led me to complete professional training in copywriting and SEO through leading Australian copywriting schools and eventually build my own content and tourism-focused projects in Austria.

Tourism & Digital Content Experience

Alongside client work, I run Austria Wanderlust, where I create English-language travel content for visitors discovering Austria and also provide personalised Austria travel planning consultations.

Living and working in one of Austria’s best-known alpine tourism regions also gives me hands-on experience through our family holiday apartment management business.

In addition to website content and SEO writing, I also work with digital content and audience engagement across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Substack, with plans to expand into podcasting in the future.

This combination of practical tourism experience and digital content creation gives me strong insight into international audiences, SEO, and online communication.

My professional experience spans over 20 years across scientific, academic, business, and digital communication roles.

I have worked with researchers, universities, government departments, not-for-profits, scientific consultants, biotechnology companies, and small businesses across a wide range of industries, including healthcare, biotechnology, education, tourism, real estate, and public policy.

Qualifications

I hold a PhD in Natural Sciences from the University of Vienna and a B.Sc. (Honours) and M.Sc. in Biochemistry from Queen’s University in Canada.

My academic career includes research positions and fellowships in cancer research and molecular biology, including work at the University of Queensland as a Senior John Trivett Fellow.
